DST Centre for Policy research in collaboration with BRIC- IBSD has organized One Day Workshop on Strengthening grassroots innovation ecosystems through IP frameworks at their Shillong centre. The event marked the presence of scientific staff and scholars of BRIC IBSD along with local grassroot innovators community headed by the Mr Aibanmankhraw Nongkynrih. Dr JK Shukla scientist at BRIC IBSD was chief guest and keynote speaker of the session. He highlighted the importance of protecting bioresources to yield bioeconomy. Dr. Hygina Siangbood Project Scientist (Bio-Resource) & Aroma Mission Nodal Person Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) Shillong was also speaker of the session. Dr Pardeep Bhardwaj Scientist at BRIC-IBSD highlighted the work initiated at various centres of IBSD for circular bioeconomy. Mr Aiban highlighted various activities done by their community as grassroot innovators and stressed on the need of its protection through various forms of IPRs to monetize the innovations.
The event witnessed lectures and panel discussion on the thematic areas.
