1st Local Project Advisory Committee (LPAC) meeting

The first LPAC meeting of DST-CPR, PU was held today to discuss the progress and future course of action of DST-CPR, PU at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The meeting was chaired by Sh. Sunil Kumar, IFS, Additional Secretary and Head of PCPM division, DST, GoI. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Panigrahy and Dr. Bhupendra from DST, GoI along with STI experts, Dr. Rupinder Tewari and Dr. J.K. Arora. The meeting highlighted the various outcomes of the evidence-based studies carried out by DST-CPR, PU focusing on key themes i.e. Intellectual Property Ecosystem and Regulatory Issues, Public Private Partnerships, Policy challenges and opportunities in these domains as well as fostering Industry-Academia Linkages. The meeting was followed by enriched discussion of members of LPAC with the DST, CPR staff for strengthening the platforms of the DST-CPR, PU initiatives.

DST-Centre for Policy Research’s representation at 17th CHASCON (Chandigarh Science Congress), Panjab University, Chandigarh.

An annual event of Panjab University taking place from November 6-8, 2024 to strengthen the Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystem of Panjab University. This event provides a platform for young minds to innovate novel and sustainable solutions to cope with societal problems and showcase their technologies to the world. This year’s theme is empowering “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The mandates of DST-Centre for Policy Research Panjab University, Chandigarh include prominent domains such as Intellectual Property Ecosystem and regulatory issues, Technology Transfer, Industry-Academia Linkages and Public-Private Partnerships, and capacity building of the researchers and innovators in all these domains. At CHASCON, DST-Centre for Policy Research Panjab University, Chandigarh showcased their research areas and courses offered to facilitate the innovators in protecting their innovations through different types of IPs. The Innovators and researchers showed tremendous interest in the research and courses offered by DST-Centre for Policy Research Panjab University, Chandigarh, and collaborating within these domains for future endeavors.

Patent Search, Filing, and Enforcement

Visit by Associate Head and Scientist G, PCPM division, DST, GoI

Dr. Parveen Arora, Associate Head and Scientist G, PCPM division, DST, GoI visited DST-Centre for Policy Research Panjab University, Chandigarh on August 13, 2024, along with Dr Pramod Kumar Arya from DST, GoI. DST-CPR, PU team had a very fruitful discussion with Dr. Arora regarding the mandate and objectives of DST-CPR, PU. Important insights and suggestions were provided by visited dignitries.

Certificate course in Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)

A certificate course in Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) is offered by DST-Centre for Policy Research (CPR), Panjab University, Chandigarh. It is a well-designed course for people from various streams. The course includes four modules that discuss the fundamentals and types of IPRs and a final exam at the end of the course. The modules will be taught by subject matter experts from India and abroad. Course content will be made available to the participants.

Role of Intellectual Property Rights in Protecting Innovations in Textile and Fashion Industry

A workshop titled “Role of Intellectual Property Rights in Protecting Innovations in the Textile and Fashion Industry” was organized on August 22, 2024 by the DST-Centre for Policy Research (CPR), PU, Chandigarh, in partnership with University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT), PU, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Panchkula and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), Government of Punjab. The workshop featured an exhibition showcasing the innovative work of emerging startups in the textile and fashion industry, offering participants a chance to explore sustainable designs, advanced manufacturing, and IP-driven solutions.

National Brainstorming on Transforming Science, Technology and Innovation Ecosystem of India

Venue- Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi

Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI on May 22, 2024 organised “National Brainstorming on Transforming Science, Technology and Innovation Ecosystem of India” at Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi where DST-CPR, PU contributed towards enriching and robust Science Technology and Innovation (STI) of India. The event brought together experts from diverse fields to deliberate on developing a robust and forward-looking science policy framework. As well as to ensure that India’s existing and upcoming STI policies are well-equipped to adapt to the rapidly evolving STI landscape. The event aims to facilitate the ease of conducting scientific research and technological development, and ultimately drive societal progress. The Key discussions at the event focused on Dynamic Policy Formulation, Enhancing Research Infrastructure, Interdisciplinary Collaboration, Facilitating Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Societal Impact and Inclusion nonetheless Global Partnerships. Prof. Kashmir Singh, Co-Ordinator of DST-CPR, PU was one of the panellists to underscored the importance of science communication for a holistic approach needed to transform India’s STI ecosystem. He and His team put forward various insights that can help to chart a course for sustained scientific and technological advancement that aligns with national priorities and global standards.

Virtual Interaction with World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO Officals

A fruitful and enthralling discussion on initiating collaborations with World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO Madrid System took place at DST-Centre for Policy Research Panjab University, Chandigarh today. The meeting took place in online mode with the WIPO officials, Mr. Hojjat Khademi (Madrid Promotion Specialist at Madrid Information and Promotion Division, WIPO) and Mr. Benoît APERCE (Communications and Information Manager, WIPO). The meeting aimed to discuss developing collaborations in terms of webinars/workshops/certificate courses for the promotion of Madrid System in Indian HEIs/Business Organizations. Meeting was initiated by Prof. Kashmir Singh, Coordinator, DST-CPR, PU, Chd and attended by his team.
